Transport Adapter Module using CTS+

This blog is an extension to the How to Guide for Configuring Enhanced CTS for SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 SP06. The How to guide has clearly mentioned about the pre-requisites and necessary configuration on TMS Domain Controller, Source and Target Systems.

This blog just demonstrates how to use the same CTS+ configuration for transporting JAVA modules for example a custom adapter module or a custom adapter incase of SAP NW PI.

So before we can use the CTS+ browser to create a transport request we need to make sure we have activated the corresponding Deployment service method on the target system

For this make the following additions to Step 6.3 on the How to Guide

Along with Method XI, select the SDM Check box as shown below

Once SLD Option is selected the system would ask you for the username and password for SDM/DC Deployment on the target system.

If you are planning to use the user NWDS_CTSADMIN make sure to add the role SAP_J2EE_ADMIN for this user.

Once the SDM/DC deployment method is selected system automatically adds the following additional parameter for the target system.

Deploy_URLParameter

Make sure the SDM port is correct. For me the system added the default port as 5<sys no>18, which I had to change to correct SDM port (P4 Port of your target system).

Now we are ready to add the .ear file to the CTS Browser. On your source system CTS browser page click on Create Request and provide the necessary information.

Now Navigate to the Object List tab and click on Attach

Now in the Attach File object window select the Application as J2EE, and provide the file upload location.

Now we are ready to release the transport request.

After the CTS import of the transport to the target system has been executed either automatically or manual by your transport administrator, you can check the result of the import in the target system.

Alternatively you can use the CTS browser to see the status of deployment in the target system.
